GOVERNATLAS / PRODUCT DOSSIER

Cisco AI Defense

Cisco describes AI Defense components for model/application validation, runtime protection, cloud visibility, AI access and supply-chain risk management. Its product page separates third-party AI use from development of an organization’s own AI applications.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Choose the organizational use case before asking for a platform demonstration. Discovering employee use of third-party applications and validating a custom agent require different assets, permissions and intervention paths. Assign an owner to the component that will make a production access or runtime decision.

What this record does not establish

The broad suite description does not establish every component in one license or automatic coverage of every cloud. Standards mappings are documentary context, not a compliance finding. Confirm networking dependencies, exact modules, deployment configuration and the authority to change production policy.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

In a proposed authorized sandbox, inventory a known application, run a defined adversarial case against a test model and inspect one runtime policy intervention. Compare an alert with the application-visible result. Try a legitimate edge case and document how an operator challenges or reverses an incorrect block.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A component-specific inventory, validation and intervention record with observed outcomes.
  2. A deployment/module matrix and false-positive review/rollback procedure.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

A component-specific inventory, validation and intervention record with observed outcomes. Can this be demonstrated in the selected environment?

02

A deployment/module matrix and false-positive review/rollback procedure. Who owns and signs off this evidence?

03

Which version, deployment and commercial entitlement are included in the proposed configuration?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.
