GOVERNATLAS / PRODUCT DOSSIER

Elastic LLM Observability

Elastic describes LLM monitoring through provider integrations, dashboards, traces, usage and cost tracking. It also describes observing guardrail interventions and using Elastic APM with OpenTelemetry; integration-specific configuration remains necessary.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Choose whether the team needs provider-level usage metrics or an application trace explaining a failed agent task. The two views answer different questions. An account-level token total can be correct while the application lacks the tool event necessary to explain an incident. Define both sources and their expected join keys.

What this record does not establish

The primary documentation capture was rejected for unsupported MIME type; a separate official HTML product source was preserved without bypassing that control. Integration listings do not establish universal event coverage, enforcement effectiveness or identical self-managed and cloud entitlements.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

A

A test worth running

In a proposed pilot, run a model request, a denied guardrail event and an external tool timeout. Inspect the selected provider integration and application trace side by side. Reconcile usage with provider records and identify which payload fields were ingested, dropped or unavailable.

GovernAtlas editorial proposal. We have not performed this test.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A provider-metrics versus application-trace reconciliation with missing joins explicit.
  2. A configuration record for ingestion, guardrail signals and sensitive payload fields.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

A provider-metrics versus application-trace reconciliation with missing joins explicit. Can this be demonstrated in the selected environment?

02

A configuration record for ingestion, guardrail signals and sensitive payload fields. Who owns and signs off this evidence?

03

Which version, deployment and commercial entitlement are included in the proposed configuration?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.
