GOVERNATLAS / PRODUCT DOSSIER

Fiddler

Fiddler describes agent monitoring, evaluations, inline request and response enforcement, and recorded governance decisions.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Evaluate monitoring and inline enforcement separately. A recorded governance decision is useful only if your team can tell which request, policy and intervention it concerns. Define the failure behavior your application can tolerate before testing a control in the request path.

What this record does not establish

The vendor description does not establish detection performance, latency, enforcement completeness or service behavior in your deployment. Those require configuration-specific evidence and testing.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

Use a sandbox agent with a benign task, a deliberate policy violation and an unavailable dependency. Inspect traces and evaluation results, then follow any inline action to the application response. Repeat with a policy revision and inspect the history of both outcomes.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. Distinguish an alert, a suggested action and an action actually enforced in the application.
  2. Record the policy version, intervention reason and exception owner for each tested outcome.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

What are the enforcement boundaries, failure modes and retained decision fields?

02

What deployment, retention and access-control evidence supports the intended use?

03

What underlying assurance documents are available, and which claims remain unverified?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.

KEEP THE RECORD USEFUL

A dossier should stand up to scrutiny.
