Microsoft Foundry Evaluation

Microsoft documents evaluation workflows in the Foundry portal for generative AI applications.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Identify the target: a model, agent or dataset of existing outputs. Those choices change what is executed and what the service can measure. Keep Foundry project permissions and judge-model configuration visible, and distinguish items marked preview from supported production commitments rather than assuming the entire portal has one release status.

What this record does not establish

The selected portal article explicitly scopes preview items and warns about their support/SLA limits. No parity with Foundry classic, complete tool-action verification or independent safety finding is inferred.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

Use fictional inputs and saved outputs to compare two configurations without production credentials or tools. Inspect the item-level evaluator explanations, record one ambiguous result and demonstrate who may submit a run versus read its report. Preserve dataset and judge versions with the report.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A target/project/role/dataset/evaluator manifest with preview boundaries.
  2. A report with item-level rationale, an unresolved case and controlled report access.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

Can you provide a target/project/role/dataset/evaluator manifest with preview boundaries for the selected configuration?

02

Can you provide a report with item-level rationale, an unresolved case and controlled report access for the selected configuration?

03

Which exact version, entitlements, data paths and responsible roles apply?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.

KEEP THE RECORD USEFUL
