NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails Library

NVIDIA documents the NeMo Guardrails library for adding programmable controls around LLM-based applications.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Define which programmable rail and application boundary you intend to control. A library, guardrail model and deployed service are not interchangeable products or responsibilities. Pin the release, provider path and configuration; establish what happens when the guardrail dependency cannot answer.

What this record does not establish

The library is distinct from separately deployed guardrail services or model endpoints. Pin the library version, configured rails, provider paths and component licenses.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

Use a synthetic application and a minimal authorized rail configuration. Compare a permitted task, a deliberately disallowed action and a failed dependency. Preserve the actual application result alongside the guardrail response, then re-run after one configuration change.

GovernAtlas editorial proposal. We have not performed this test.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A release-specific library/model/service responsibility map.
  2. A paired application trace including a dependency failure and replay configuration.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

Can you provide a release-specific library/model/service responsibility map for the selected configuration?

02

Can you provide a paired application trace including a dependency failure and replay configuration for the selected configuration?

03

Which exact version, entitlements, data paths and responsible roles apply?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.

KEEP THE RECORD USEFUL
