GOVERNATLAS / PRODUCT DOSSIER

Opal Security

Opal describes Paladin reviewing access requests against policy and escalating to a person when needed. Opal describes temporary grants with automatic revocation, entitlement-level access-review recommendations and searchable access-change records.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

Where it fits

Distinguish the recommendation engine from the system that changes a permission.

The decision to make

Distinguish the recommendation engine from the system that changes a permission. An explanation can help a reviewer decide, but it does not establish that the requested action was appropriate or that a rejected entitlement disappeared. Start with one connected application and ask which permissions Opal can read, grant and revoke in that specific configuration. Keep employees, service accounts and agent identities separate when their owners and expiry rules differ.

What this record does not establish

The platform page is a vendor description. It does not establish recommendation accuracy, instant revocation across connectors, independent security assurance or contractual entitlement to every deployment option. The legacy documentation capture failed and is excluded.

A

A test worth running

Use a synthetic employee and a disposable service account. Request a narrow temporary entitlement, retain the policy and recommendation, and inspect the native grant before and after expiry. Reject a second entitlement in a campaign while the sandbox connector is unavailable. Check whether the failed action remains visible after the review decision is saved. Repeat a fresh-session operation after the connector recovers.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A linked request, policy version, recommendation and accountable approval.
  2. Native-system observations at grant, expiry and connector recovery, with unresolved changes retained.

THE OPERATING DETAIL

These labels describe this dossier’s current evidence coverage. A published mention may be a framework mapping, a qualified assertion or a limitation; it is not a compliance finding.

For HIPAA-regulated use, request service-specific BAA eligibility, processing scope and responsibility details. Missing evidence here does not establish noncompliance. Payment cannot alter these evidence labels.
