GOVERNATLAS / PRODUCT DOSSIER

OpenLIT

OpenLIT project documentation describes OpenTelemetry-native agent tracing, evaluation, prompt management and cost monitoring. Its claims of universal integration coverage, complete redaction or automatic reliability are not independently established by the documentation.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Evaluate whether an integrated trace, evaluation and prompt workflow fits your operating model. A self-hosted deployment places responsibility for access, upgrades and storage with an identified operator. Choose a narrow agent task and define which fields may be captured before enabling broad instrumentation or coding-agent telemetry.

What this record does not establish

The evidence is first-party project documentation, not independent proof of redaction, universal integration coverage or reliability. Keep the documented capabilities distinct from the configuration you actually test. Confirm license/version scope, storage behavior, external evaluator calls and administrative boundaries for the selected deployment.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

In a proposed sandbox, trace a retrieval and a tool error using synthetic sensitive markers. Inspect where those markers appear before and after any configured redaction, then link the failing trace to an evaluation and a prompt revision. Export the record and repeat after changing the evaluator. Check whether the original result remains reproducible and whether an ingestion failure is visible to the operator.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A synthetic-marker data-flow review showing captured, redacted, exported and externally evaluated fields.
  2. A trace-to-evaluation-to-prompt record with versions, failure visibility and named self-hosted operating responsibilities.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

Can traces, evaluator outputs and prompt versions be reconciled without retaining unnecessary sensitive payloads?

02

Which deployment-specific evidence establishes access, retention, export and deletion behavior?

03

What happens when capture or evaluation fails, and who owns the unresolved gap?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.

KEEP THE RECORD USEFUL
