Opik

Comet's Opik repository documents tracing, evaluation and monitoring workflows for LLM applications and agents.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Use a release decision to connect tracing, evaluation and monitoring. The useful question is whether a production failure can become an inspectable experiment and whether the resulting decision points back to the exact configuration that was tested.

What this record does not establish

The official repository documents Opik workflows. It does not establish that every feature is included in every hosting option or that evaluation scores constitute independent evidence of application reliability.

Source coverage is a research boundary, not a quality score.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

Capture a sandbox agent run with a failed tool step, create a sanitized dataset case and compare two candidate changes. Inspect the trace and individual evaluation results before approving a change. Then demonstrate how a later observed regression is linked to the deployed version.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. Keep dataset, application and scoring versions available when reconstructing the release decision.
  2. Demonstrate how export, deletion and access restrictions behave for traces containing sensitive application inputs.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

How do self-hosted and hosted editions differ in evaluation and access controls?

02

What deployment, retention and access-control evidence supports the intended use?

03

What underlying assurance documents are available, and which claims remain unverified?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.

KEEP THE RECORD USEFUL

A dossier should stand up to scrutiny.
