GOVERNATLAS / PRODUCT DOSSIER

PromptLayer

PromptLayer describes a versioned prompt registry, visual editing, dataset-backed evaluations, human review and production traces linked to prompt versions. It also describes prompt rollback and gradual A/B release workflows.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Evaluate the handoff between the person editing a prompt and the person authorizing its release. A prompt registry becomes operationally useful when a reviewer can identify the exact version behind a production answer and reverse a change without losing the evaluation record. Define those authorities before inviting domain experts into the workflow.

What this record does not establish

The evidence describes workflows, not independently measured output quality or guaranteed release control. Confirm permissions, environment labels, evaluator provenance and retained logs in the selected plan. Customer success stories do not establish results for your application.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

Propose two prompt revisions and a dataset with a known regression. Have a domain reviewer disagree with an automated grader, preserve that disagreement and promote only the selected revision. Send a test request, inspect its version reference, then roll back and verify subsequent requests and historical evidence remain distinguishable.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A prompt-to-evaluation-to-release chain with the disputed item preserved.
  2. A rollback demonstration and role matrix for authors and release owners.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

A prompt-to-evaluation-to-release chain with the disputed item preserved. Can this be demonstrated in the selected environment?

02

A rollback demonstration and role matrix for authors and release owners. Who owns and signs off this evidence?

03

Which version, deployment and commercial entitlement are included in the proposed configuration?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.
