Traceloop

Traceloop describes OpenTelemetry-based tracing, monitoring and testing through OpenLLMetry SDKs or its Hub proxy. The captured introduction marks Python and TypeScript SDK paths available and Hub, Go and Ruby paths beta; those labels are documentary release statements, not verified entitlements.

01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Select the integration path and its maturity before comparing dashboards. An SDK that emits telemetry and a proxy through which model calls pass create different dependencies. The evaluation should identify what happens to application behavior and observability when the chosen path is unavailable, especially if a beta component is part of the proposed architecture.

What this record does not establish

The preserved introduction marks Python and TypeScript available while Hub, Go and Ruby are beta. These are captured release descriptions, not a support commitment. Verify the exact version and deployment terms. Do not infer universal tracing coverage, trustworthy evaluation results or a managed-service entitlement from the OpenLLMetry integration description.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

In an authorized pilot, trace a model call and a downstream tool failure using the intended language and SDK. Compare emitted spans with the application log, then interrupt the telemetry destination and inspect the caller's behavior and the operator's visibility into missing evidence. If Hub is proposed, test it separately rather than treating an SDK demonstration as proof of proxy behavior.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A versioned SDK or proxy integration record with event coverage, outage behavior and unresolved span gaps.
  2. Explicit beta/support conditions for the chosen path and a reproducible example connecting an alert to its underlying evidence.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

Which integration path and release will be used, and how are missing spans and beta limitations exposed to operators?

02

Which deployment-specific evidence establishes access, retention, export and deletion behavior?

03

What happens when capture or evaluation fails, and who owns the unresolved gap?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.
