01 / CONTEXT & SCOPE

Understand the proposition.
Define the boundary.

The decision to make

Separate the registered model from the business use and the validation decision. A workflow can assign responsibility without establishing that a reviewer has challenged the assumptions behind a model. Choose one change that should trigger revalidation and inspect whether the inventory, evidence versions and accepted limitations remain linked when that change occurs.

What this record does not establish

Inventory, tiering and monitoring descriptions do not establish independent model validity, regulatory applicability or reduced risk. Advertised performance and award claims are excluded.

02 / YOUR EVALUATION

Turn interest into a useful trial.

A

A test worth running

Use a fictional document-routing model with two versions and an unresolved validation finding. Reassign an owner, update the model version and trace which review is reopened. Ask an independent colleague to reconstruct the earlier decision from retained evidence without treating a current dashboard status as historical approval.

B

Evidence to bring back

  1. A model/use-case/version relationship with validation and change triggers.
  2. An unresolved finding linked to its evidence, decision owner and earlier review.

THE OPERATING DETAIL

An inventory entry is the start of a decision trail.

GovernAtlas analysis: practical review considerations, not findings from a product test.

Distinguish model, version and use

Create two fictional uses of one model with different operational consequences. Ask the team to show whether the inventory can retain a shared model identity while keeping use-specific owners, limitations and review decisions distinct. A model name alone is insufficient for reconstructing which business use a validator accepted.

Reopen the right review

Change an input source and a model version in separate steps. Define in advance which change should reopen validation, who must act and what evidence is required. Inspect how earlier documentation remains attached to the earlier decision; a current status should not make the old model appear retrospectively approved.

Test the assistant boundary

If an AI assistant accesses model-risk records, use a restricted test identity and fictional inventory. Check which fields and evidence it can retrieve. Retain the request and result alongside the permission configuration. An integration demonstration should answer an access question without granting a broader production connection.

03 / DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE

Read the claim. Inspect the basis.

Each statement retains its classification and preserved source. A vendor assertion is not an independent test result.

04 / BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Better questions.
A clearer decision.

Resolve these with the provider and your own evaluation team.

01

Can you provide a model/use-case/version relationship with validation and change triggers for the selected configuration?

02

Can you provide an unresolved finding linked to its evidence, decision owner and earlier review for the selected configuration?

03

Which exact version, entitlements, data paths and responsible roles apply?

Regulatory applicability requires a separate, current determination. Inclusion is not certification.
